Which Chair is "Just Right"?

Obviously, Jacobi is growing by leaps and bounds. He's 3 1/2 months old now. When Grammy weighed him on the scale at the clinic where she works a week ago, he weighed 15 1/2 pounds! Here are a few pictures of him trying out different chairs at Grandpa & Grammy's a week ago, trying to find one that was "just right." :P Actually, mama and Grammy were just having fun sitting him in different chairs because it was amusing and cute. :) He's loving sitting up these days and although he can't do it by himself yet of course, he's starting to pull his shoulders and head up off the blanket a little when he's laying down playing, etc.

We brought this seat home with us and he loves it for short periods of time.
Daddy took this picture recently--I think it's pretty cute, but I'm majorly biased.
I don't have anything to say that's not related to Jacobi, so I'm going to stop here.

Who's a Very Hungry Caterpillar?

JACOBI IS our own "Very Hungry Caterpillar!" :) I LOVE this outfit and just bought it for him a few weeks ago, but he's only worn it twice and it's really too short now...guess that's the way it goes with baby clothes. Had to get a picture anyway!
All dressed up for Sunday morning meeting. :) This is the first time he wore a button-down dress shirt. We thought he was too cute!

It's hard to believe, but...

Our boy is 3 months old today (already)! It's been an amazing and wonderful first 3 months, although I for one am really glad that he's sleeping through the night now. I know, I know...we'revery lucky that he's already doing that and really has been for at least 2 weeks. Most nights he goes 6 or 7 hours at a stretch, which is wonderful! I know we're lucky and I'm trying not to take it for granted, but I'm LOVING it!!!

He's getting to be so much fun, with smiles flowing freely and little giggles that he just can't hold back escaping occasionally...we look forward to more of the laughing out loud! His eyes dance and sing and tell stories of their own, I think--I could just about drown in the pools of melted chocolate that are his beautiful eyes!

It's times like this, when I sit and reflect, that I can still hardly believe that this wonderful and amazing little boy is our son! I'd better stop there before I get too sappy or teary, but motherhood is amazing. It's more wonderful than I ever dreamed it could be, but also more difficult than I ever imagined at times. It is an amazing gift that comes with an awesome responsibility and I know that it's only by God's grace and strength that I can be the mother I need to be.

Cousins!

Jacobi got to meet his Iowa relatives this past weekend! Aunt Cheri, Uncle Farron, cousins Elliot & Liam came to visit on Saturday and were with us until this morning. It was great! Watching all of the boys do the things that come naturally to each of them at their individual stages was pretty cool. Liam & Jacobi are only 4 months apart and it seems like they could be pretty good buddies! :) We took some family pictures, the boys rode Ryan's motorcycle, we made a couple different kinds of popcorn for Sunday supper (homemade kettle corn & homemade peanut butter popcorn), and basically just enjoyed spending time together!

Jacobi has a milestone to note, too! He rolled over for the first time "for real" (he did it before, but he was mad and I think his anger and kicking were what propelled him over) on Sunday! He and Liam were playing on the floor and he just all of a sudden went from tummy to back. :)

The Starling family on Ryan's motorcycle
(dirt bike is more like it I say, but he insists it's a motorcycle)

Me with Jacobi & Liam--too cute in matching pj's that they just happened to have (really, didn't plan it and Jacobi's are size 18 month so they were a little baggy, but worked well enough for him to wear them all night!)Ryan with all 3 boys: Elliot, Liam, Jacobi
A little bit of collaboration by the Magsam siblings. I think maybe the topic was photography and photo editing. :)

Liam & Jacobi--4 months apart. I didn't get it very good on camera, but Liam thought Jacobi's hair was perfect for grabbing onto. :P Jacobi really didn't seem to mind too much.

Jacobi's January

Well, I haven't posted for a little bit so thought I'd write a little something here quick while Jacobi finishes his nap in the wrap I'm wearing. He's past the two hour mark now--this is his favorite sleeping spot during the day! He does great in his crib at night, but during the day he likes to be close--and of course I love it as much as he does! Any second now he should wake up starving...but we'll see. Like all babies, his eating habits aren't always predictable although he does usually like it sooner than later. :)

This is one of my favorite recent pictures of Jacobi--so much personality already! He's becoming quite the talker and nothing makes my day quicker than seeing his little face light up in recognition of Ryan or I. :)

Last week we enjoyed a couple of days with a couple of wonderful ladies. Unfortunately, Jacobi wasn't feeling 100% but they did get a little bit of cuddle time in. :)

Jacobi has been busy learning how to fix computers with Daddy. Of course, it's tiring work and he knew Dad had it under control. ;)

Both of my boys taking a little siesta. I love seeing them together! :)

Of course, Jacobi is "growing like bamboo!" I had to use my new found phrase--I love it! It sounds so much cooler than growing like a "weed" and once I heard it, I looked up the growth rate of bamboo to see what that was all about. Some species of bamboo grow as much as 12 inches in a DAY!!! Jacobi's not growing quite that quick, but it's pretty noticeable all the same. :) We went up to school yesterday and my co-workers hadn't seen him since our shower the second week of Dec. They thought he'd really grown and he definitely has!

Our Big Boy!

Jacobi had his 2 month check-up today and we already knew he was a big boy, but the check-up definitely confirmed that! :) He weighs 13 lb. 1 oz, which is 75-90th %ile and is 25 inches long, which is literally off the charts! The Dr. was very happy with how he's growing and developing. :) She did say that he has cradle cap on his scalp and skin both (face, chest, upper arms). I thought I had pretty much cured the cradle cap on his scalp and had no idea that the little, minimal bumps on his skin could be that. I learned something new today! We'll try hydro-cortisone on his skin but I'm not sure about the recommendation of Selsun Blue shampoo for a baby; I may skip that one!

I'm going to just post this without a picture this time; I think I'm over the "legal limit" of posts for the week anyway. :P

Visitors

Ryan, Leah, and I--I love how happy she was to be sitting by her buddy Ryan. :)
Great Aunt Darla & Jacobi--a very young great aunt! :)
Great Uncle Kerry & Jacobi--again, a young great uncle--feels funny to even call them that.
Jenna, Kelsey, & Leah with Jacobi

We had visitors this week! Ryan's uncle, aunt, and cousins came for a few days--Kerry & Darla Magsam and their family. They got here Saturday evening and left Tuesday morning so it was quick, but great to spend some time with them! Of course Jacobi didn't get a bit of attention while they were here (haha). In reality I had lots of help, both with Jacobi and in the kitchen.
